I chose this picture because I think it portrays Romeo and Juliet's love for one another very well. It reminded me instantly of this story.

Paragraph

Harper Lee has used simplicity and wisdom together through Atticus and the case to incorporate a rock-hard understanding to the reader about the truth of the trial. Atticus proves completely to the court and the reader that this case was totally unnecessary. "To begin with," he said, "this case should never have come to trial. This case is as simple as black and white." The entire court, the jury, and the reader know Tom Robinson is innocent and if it were not for racial discrimination, it would be a simple case with an obvious verdict. Atticus is smart and knows that the trial was unjust because of racism. He accepted that case, ready to lose, but also ready to prove to everyone that Tom had done nothing wrong. With his wisdom, Atticus reveals Tom's innocence in a clever, straightforward way that is understood by all.

It is a very nice paragraph, you followed the prompt great and it was very easy to understand. I like your use of words and your examples, and I didn’t notice any mistakes. Great Job!

You have a really good paragraph. Your sentences go together really nicely and it all makes sense. I really did not notice any mistakes either. You did a nice job and your paragraph seems to be what Mr. Davis wanted.

-Bryn

Yeah I’d have to agree this is an amazing paragraph with tons of detail and a great choice of words what you’re saying is very clear. Also I think it follows the prompt perfectly. Nice work, Amy.

Discussion Question

1.) Why does Dill cry? Some things to consider include his character, his
age, his family, the way he is treated by others including his family
and the effect that Atticus Finch has had on him.

My Weekend

My weekend wasn't very good. I didn't even go to the game Saturday because I went to my half-sisters' grandma's funeral. It wasn't very fun at all. I didn't know her that well since she wasn't technically related to me but it was still really sad. Then I had to go home and clean and do homework, neither of which was any fun. Also, I had to wake up early three out of the four days we had off which was pretty much not cool at all. Anyway, that's how my weekend went.

Scout

I think Scout is a little too young to know all about the rape case. She should only be told what she must be in order to have a basic idea of what is going on and why people are rude to Atticus and the Finches. She should be explained the significance of racial discrimination and should know more fully why Atticus is defending a black man when they probably won't win.

Book I'm Reading

Okay, so here's pretty much the most boring book ever. It's called Origin In Death. I got it because it sounded cool but it wasn't. It's taken me three months to read and I'm still not done. That's how reluctant I am to read it. It's boring and confusing and I just really don't like it. So, DON'T READ THIS BOOK.

TKAM Discussion Questions

Q. How is Mrs. Dubose important to the story?

Q. What makes the Radley's so important to the story? If the Ewells are the real bad guys, how come there is so much emphasis on the Radleys and not them?

Q. Does Atticus really think it's necessary Aunt Alexandra comes or did she just invite herself pretty much?
